Chuck, to my knowledge a wiki for names doesn't exist. However, I think it is an absolutely fantastic idea. CDLI has a very nice wiki-like deal that has year names and stuff--it would be great if something like this were done for names. Furthermore, if there was a central database for names covering more or less all dialects and periods that would be very helpful.

I think the most recent published comprehensive onomastic corpus for a single dialect of Akkadian is The Prosopography of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, based on the Neo-Assyrian Text Corpus Project database. There are a great many other recent studies, for instance John Nielsen's 2008 University of Chicago dissertation Sons and descendants : a social history of kin groups and family names in the early neo-Babylonian period.

I had a conversation last week with a colleague who was imagining a wiki-like collectively developed prosopographic resource for the Sassanian empire. Does such a thing exist for any corpus of names?

Current coverage in Pleiades is limited to BAtlas maps 65 and 38 (point features only). We've got 6 more maps in the pipeline, and are working a plan and putting resources in place to accelerate data fold-in over next 18 months or so.

We had a data/coverage status page, but it got munched in a recent upgrade. It's on the list to fix too, and we'll link to that from the 404 page once it's back in place.

While I'm at it and in case I'm just missing something, the search engine on Pleiades seems not to come up with hits for things that appear in the latest BAtlas files that I just downloaded. For example, "Todi" or "Tuder" (the same place). Neither shows up, but both are in (the same entry) in map42.xml:

arts-humanities.net was down for a few hours yesterday but is running again - including all the RSS feeds.

Every other week we have to take the site offline for a few minutes to install security patches - that also disables RSS, but only for a few minutes.

Could that explain the problems you had?
